Completed Projects for Cold Storage, Packaging Machines, and Automotive Assembly Machines
Cold Storage Automation Controls
(for Manik Engineer, Pune & APM Terminals, Chennai )
We started programming this Project from scratch almost two years ago and have since completed PLC programming, HMI design, and SCADA development for the entire plant's Automation. The control hardware used was a DELTA AS series PLC with multiple Analog, RTD, Remote CAN, and I/O modules attached, as well as a DOP-107EV 7-inch HMI and DIA View SCADA.
This Cold Storage is made up of 12 big Cold Chambers. The Controls machinery included 8 Compressors, 12 Pumps, more than 100 Valves, 55 Fans, 20 RTD and 50 Pressure sensors, multiple Float Switches, and various other equipment. Finally, the Project is in the commissioning phase, and we are testing all chambers to achieve any temperature in the range of -30 to 20 degrees Celsius by selecting a combination of Multiple Compressors among 8 Compressors.
Milk Packaging Machine Automation (for Qualitronics Packaging Machines, Pune)
In this Project, we completed the Controls Programming of Qualitronics Milk Packing Machines in Pune, designed for packing Milk bags ranging from 200ml to 6000ml. Complete Controls programming was done using Delta DVP series PLC, Delta HMI, Servo Motor, Stepper Motor, and Delta VFD. Multiple other devices, like a Heat Controller, Photo mark sensors, and Solenoid valves, were also involved. After completing the programming, we achieved the speed of 4000 bags packed per hour.

Torque Gun Automation Cell with Image Verification (for Lorik Tool & Automation, ON, Canada)
This Machine was designed and built to verify the presence of a C-clip ring on the cooler inlet using a Keyence IV Vision Sensor and to fit the nuts on a part using a Torque Gun powered by a PF6000 Controller. I undertook complete controls development for this project while working as a Controls Engineer at Lorik Tools & Automation in Canada. Development Tasks included doing electrical drawings and control panel designs, device configuration, Keyence image processing, and incorporating safety features, PLC and HMI programming for Allen-Bradley CompactLogix PLC and PanelView Plus HMI.

Sponsored Projects
We are planning to develop a range of new products and services in the areas of Cold Storage, Agriculture, Motion Control Systems, and Data Logging. In the initial phase, we will focus on building functional prototypes. Most of our embedded solutions will be based on the PIC18Fxxx series microcontrollers, which are part of the engineering curriculum. To support this initiative, we aim to engage a few engineering students through partially sponsored co-op projects. This collaboration will allow students to gain valuable hands-on experience aligned with their academic learning, while also contributing meaningfully to product development.
STM32L412KB Nucleo-Based Cold Storage Controller with GSM/Serial & RTC Interface, SD Card Logging, and Intelligent Actuator Control
This project aims to design and implement a Cold Storage Controller using the STM32L412KB Nucleo microcontroller as the central processing unit. The system will acquire a temperature setpoint through either a UART-based GSM module or a serial terminal, enabling flexible remote configuration. A DS1307 RTC (I2C) provides accurate real-time data, while a PT100 sensor (with signal conditioning) and an I2C-based humidity sensor continuously monitor environmental conditions inside the chamber. The logged temperature and humidity data are stored on an SPI-based SD card module for record-keeping and analysis.

Precision Temperature Control System for Packaging Machine Heating Jack
This project focuses on the development of a microcontroller-based closed-loop temperature control system for heating applications in automated packaging machines. At the core of the system is the PIC18F52 microcontroller, which regulates the temperature of a nichrome heating filament used in the heating jack of the packaging equipment.
Closed-Loop Precise Stepper Motor Control Using PIC18F452 and Stepper Drive
4.
This academic project presents the design and development of a closed-loop stepper motor control system using a PIC18F452 microcontroller and a stepper motor and driver. The goal is to precisely control the motion and position of a stepper motor using PWM signals from the microcontroller, while continuously monitoring the motor’s performance using encoder feedback.

Precise Motion Control with VFD, PIC18F MCU and Encoder
5.
This academic project aims to design and implement a precision motion control system using a Delta EL-W Series Variable Frequency Drive (VFD), controlled by a PIC18F452 microcontroller. The goal is to achieve accurate and stable speed regulation of an induction motor through closed-loop feedback control.
SQL-Based Data Logging and Retrieval System using PIC18F Microcontroller and Python
1.
This project focuses on developing a low-cost, PC-based Data Logging and Retrieval System using a PIC18F microcontroller and a Python-based desktop application. The microcontroller continuously monitors and collects data from various digital inputs and analog sensors such as temperature, pressure, voltage, or machine status signals. This data is transmitted to a laptop via UART through a USB-to-Serial Converter.
Smart Indoor Crop Cultivation System using PIC18F452 with Python based Desktop Application
2.
This project proposes a cost-effective and intelligent solution for automated indoor crop cultivation, specifically designed to meet the environmental requirements of high-value crops like saffron. The system is built around the PIC18F452 microcontroller, which serves as the central controller for monitoring and managing key environmental parameters, including temperature, humidity, and soil moisture. The PIC18F452 receives real-time setpoints for each day of the crop's lifecycle via serial (UART) communication from a Python-based desktop application.
